A recent survey from RMIT University has revealed that Australians are discarding a shocking 260,000 tonnes of clothing to landfill each year. This alarming figure highlights the growing issue of fashion waste in the country, where most people admit to not recycling or reusing their clothes as much as they should.

The research also found that while 75% of Australians feel guilty about throwing away old clothes, many are unsure of how to properly recycle or repurpose them. The sheer volume of clothing waste is overwhelming our environment, and the fast fashion industry’s influence only accelerates the cycle of buy, wear, and discard.

But there’s hope. We at VENLA are committed to being part of the solution, one frock at a time. Through our sustainable, preloved fashion recycling service we offer a simple way for everyone to contribute to reducing waste. By embracing second-hand clothing, you not only save quality items from landfill but also help decrease the demand for new clothing production—which in turn reduces pollution, water usage, and energy consumption.
